Best Skin Care Practices For Sensitive Skin

Posted by

Do you have sensitive skin?  Do you experience redness, tightness and stinging, irritation of the skin, swelling, peeling, rashes or acne?  If so, you may be one of about 40-56 percent of Americans who suffer from sensitive skin.  I personally have extremely sensitive skin, so I can definitely relate to those of you who also deal with the challenges of caring for this type of skin condition.

The only way to know for sure what you are sensitive to is to have testing done by a dermatologist, but here's a helpful tip that I learned from my doctor when I was undergoing the patch test process a few years ago:  Apply a small amount of a product on the inside of your forearm twice daily for three consecutive days.  After 3 days, if you have not yet had a rash or reaction, then you probably do not have a sensitivity to the product.

Keeping a simple skincare regimen is best for those who have sensitive skin.  Tryusing just a few products with natural ingredients that calm the skin like Willowherb Extract and Allantoin (both known to reduce inflammation, calm and promote healing), like Charisma Skin’s Hydra Gel.  Hydrated skin cells are more healthy-functioning cells, which can help improve the condition of sensitive skin.  Drinking plenty of water is a good practice, as well.
