Color Trend Report/Color of the Year 2024
Color has been an area of interest for me for decades, as my initial education in the world of skincare and makeup included training in personalized color analysis. The goal of color analysis is to determine the most flattering colors for an individual based on their natural skin tones.
Recently there has been a renewed interest in personalized color analysis and the ability to use the power of color as a tool to help simplify our lives in the areas of wardrobe and makeup. A couple of months ago a client invited me to her home to do a personalized color analysis for a group of her friends. It was fun to help these women learn about using color in their wardrobes and makeup, and see them become excited about colors that would beautifully highlight their own skin tones.
The Pantone Color Institute creates a palette of colors for Fall/Winter and a palette for Spring/Summer every year, and they also select a Color of the Year. “Peach Fuzz” has been designated the 2024 Color or the Year according to Elley Cheng, President of Pantone.
How to use the Color of the Year in Makeup
“A contemporary peach with depth whose gentle lightness is understated,” and “a surprisingly versatile shade, Peach Fuzz enlivens the skin, adding soft warmth to eyes, lips, and cheeks. Fresh and youthful when paired with earthy browns and dramatic when paired with deep reds, the Color of the Year 2024 opens the door to a wide assortment of lipstick, blush, skin tone, and contouring options” according to Pantone’s color experts.

As you can see there are both warm (yellow-based) and cool (blue-based) colors in the Spring Summer 2024 palette by Pantone.
