How To Wash Your Face

How Should You Wash Your Face?

Seems simple, right?  You could be doing a few subtle things wrong that may cause your skin to be more dry or more oily, and may even cause a break out. Cleansing is essential for your skin’s long term health.  The incorrect use of skin care products can cause sensitive skin to react, or cause skin to break out.  To avoid this, follow our simple steps and use a gentle cleanser twice a day.

Step 1: Stick with a simple cleanser - something gentle that will take away germs, dirt and excess oil without damaging skin moisture and the healthy skin cells. We love our Azulene Cleanser or Facial Cleansing Gelee for a gentle yet thorough cleanse.

Step 2: Don’t freak out! - If you sweat or wear make up and forget to wash your face after a workout, it’s okay.  However, it is best to not sleep with make up or sunscreen still on your face.  It’s well worth the extra couple of minutes it takes to cleanse your skin -- you’ll reap the benefits of healthier, more beautiful skin as a result!

Step 3: Cool it down - While it certainly feels good to put some steamy water on your face, lukewarm to cool water also has cleansing benefits. Water that is too hot can strip way natural healthy oils from your skin.

Step 4: Exfoliate 1-2 times a week - Do not over exfoliate!  Exfoliating has lots of benefits but not when it is overdone. Try exfoliating only once or twice a week to increase circulation and remove dead skin cells.

Step 5: Careful with your eyes - The skin around your eyes is very delicate so avoid using rough eye make up removers and avoid harsh soaps.

Step 6: How to Dry - Try to use a gentle clean cloth to dry your skin.  Pat yourself dry rather than rubbing and allow a little moisture to remain on your face as you apply your serums and moisturizer.
